  • Adamek-Golota Not Close, Steve Cunningham in Play

As reports flooded the internet regarding a potential fight between IBF cruiserweight champ Tomasz Adamek and heavyweight Andrew Golota, BoxingScene.com contacted Adamek's co-promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events, to get the scoop on the all-Polish dream fight. Duva is not sure where the information started or who spread the story but the fight is not close to happening. There are several options out there but none of them will be seriously explored until Duva gets a chance to start negotiations with mandatory challenger Steve Cunningham. [details]

I tried posting this in Tunney's thread, but for some childish reason he has me on ignore. Hah. No response to a friendly PM, either. Looks like the hate on him is totally warranted.

Aaaaaaaaaanyway! Had this fight have happened, Adamek would've needed an extra-strength nadger protector whilst going in there against Golota. :laff2: I'd still pick Adamek to win, because from the looks of it Golota has been shot for years. I mean, the guy got knocked down in only 3 seconds against Austin.

Cunningham is the better fight anyway. The first one was a FOTY candidate so I'm looking forward to a rematch.

I wouldn't have minded Adamek-Golota, but I'm happy readin this. Before Adamek does anything else I'm hopin for that Cunningham rematch. After Cunningham beat Braithwaite, it's mandated now by the IBF I think. Do it up.

Why is everybody accusing Adamek of ducking Cunningham? They both landed practically the same amount of punches in the first fight and the three knockdowns that Adamek scored along with the more damaging shots is what made the difference in the fight. A rematch will be another exciting slug fest, but it won't be any different because Cunningham doesn't have the power to discourage Adamek.

You're right, but he does have the power to knock him out
