Joe may have been past his prime but not as much as Bernard...
Bernard has made the majority of his opponents recently look bad...Jermain beat him and looked terrible late...Joe edged out a SD and Bernard had him swingin at air at times...
I don't see how Joe would deal with a prime Bernard...prime Bernard didn't have to worry about his stamina and actually pressured certain opponents...

can people watch this fight with a close eye and actually use the rules of judging to score it. don't just use silly code words like calzaghe outworked him or calzaghe made the fight. use the actual rules. at the end of each round ask yourself who landed the clean punches? who had better defense? who used effective agression? (missing equals ineffective sorry!) who was the ring general? if you do that honestly you will see find out hopkins won.

joe (like BHop) havent taken much damage in his career. both hit their primes in their mid 30s. in other words joe was in his prime when he fought hopkins, no matter what his birth certificate says. just like BHop was still game when he fought calzaghe, even though his age would say he wasnt. BHop wasnt in his prime though.
joe threw alot but he wasnt landing, hopkins landed clean effective shots. he hurt joe 3-4 times in the fight, and was in control for the first 9 rounds or so.
joe just missed, not only do missed punches not score, but the oponent acctually scores on defense, something lots of ppl overlook. just like ring generalship. fans who dont know boxing dont score these things, they cant tell a glansing blow from a clean blow eighter. or even a landed punch from a missed punch. ppl who know boxing know BHop won. 115-112.

This was a close fight therefore there are arguments to say that either fighter could have won, we aren't talking about a Lewis Holyfield 1 type decision here.
Joe got the nod...end of story.
Also if Hopkins was so past his prime then how was he able to completely school Pavlik after this fight??? Styles make fights I know but Pavlik was the new big thing and he was in his prime yet Hopkins was able to look a league above him???
