The bottom line is if they don't find a way to work together to better the sport make for interesting match ups and better sponsers to offer a more steady viewing of young talent then eventually their income as a whole will dwindle away. MMA is NOT my cup of tea I rarely watch it but I must say one thing there are more cards more often worth watching for the casual MMA fan then there are for the casual boxing fan. you watch Friday night ESPN fights and rarely do you get a known fighter on there. When I say known I mean someone outside these boards has heard of them. the cards on HBO and Show are far and few inbetween and the really decent card are always PPV. they need to put something in contract in place where fighters have to earn the right to get on those PPV cards and have them maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Also the fights on the under cards are often horrid and no one even wants to watch them....these are issues they need to work on.....I love boxing but i have been depressed of late since there really hasn't been anything to wet my appetite on TV....Lefty

In every other major sport there are the owner's meeting; winter meetings; union meetings, etc. Boxing is so independent, it's almost a free for all. Nothing protects the fighters. And the promoters go at each others neck. Maybe with the rise in popularity of the MMA, promoters will realize that the sport's popularity will not grow with fights continually being on PPV. With ticket prices beinging so high no one can enjoy a fight. You've got HBO PPV, DirecTV PPV, Top Rank PPV and all the other PPV.

There is no reason why a guy like Julio Caeser Chavez Jr. can't fight on HBO or ESPN2. Instead, he fights on PPV. Samething with Juanma Lopez and other fighters who are cracking into the mainstream.

One of the best things for boxing, is when ESPN Classic picks up a fight in Germany and airs it live at 5pm on a Saturday. Let's get these fights on prime time. Let's get the general public talking about the journeyman. The prospect. Let's get people other than us freaks talking about the sport.

Hopefully the results will be positive. I can see Bob Arum turning this into a bitching session.

Hopefully this meeting will get the promoters talking about putting other tournaments like the super middleweights are doing.

I'm curious how this will be run. Is there a person (or people) that enough of them respect that can get them to talk honestly and stay on the important topics rather than them all getting sidetracked into a big bitching session?

Hope it ends like the Appalachin Meeting; with all of them getting arrested.

Like ive said, if they can start working together rather than against eachother we could be better off. These groups meeting together to work on the same page can not hurt, it could only help. knowing this makes me feel that there is yet hope for revival...........Rockin'
