UK Boxing: Khan Warns Kotelnik, Jon Thaxton Still Hungry

He might now be referred to as the former British and European Champion but Jon Thaxton would clearly prefer the term, future British and European Champion. It’s been a roller coaster two years for the Norwich lightweight but despite 17 years in the pro ranks Thaxton promises that there are plenty more thrills and spills to come. [details]

Khan would get killed by Maidana!

Anyway even if Amir gets the decision over Kotelnik, he will have to face the interim champion, who will be the winner of Maidana/Ortiz fight... Amir won`t become an elite fighter... I really doubt he can do it.

If Khan beats Kotelnik he would have already beaten somebody better than Maidana.

And I don't think anybody thinks than Khan will become an elite. A title holder would be good enough for me considering 90% of this board thought that Khan would never become a champion.

          thats how i see it.
but his promotor will protect his cash cow and don't see khan anytime soon even if he beats kotelnik of being put up against real threats like ortiz or maidana. i honestly think khan will stay mostly in u.k. becoming a u;k star but not realy ever making it on the world scene.

i'm one of the few who thought if barrera wasnt cut and the fight got into the mid rounds that the much improved khan would have folded.

Stilystically Andrew is better than Maidana for Khan. Unless he will try to KO Andrew, which he isn`t capable of and which Roach won`t let him try, he can get the decision if he uses his foot and hand speed. If he tries to get close and hurt Andrew, he will simply get caught by couple right hands (which aren`t that powerful but pretty fast) and will be on the verge of getting knocked out...

But Maidana is a completely different case. Khan will have to circle and bicycle for 12 !!! rounds to escape Marcos`s power shots, which i don`t think he`ll manage...

Sounds very possible... They have to protect such chin, not only in the ring. And Khan is no Hearns or Wlad, and he doesn`t have Steward in his corner.

I beleive Steward would be a better trainer for Khan, as he really knows how to protect the "glass-chinned" fighters, while keeping their punching power...

Roach works better with durable, iron-chinned sluggers... like Pacquaio... He prefers they fighters to have a highly techincal-offensive-agressive style, which can fit perfectly to such fighters like Manny, but does nothing good to weak-chinny guys like Arlovski...

Time will show, whether he did something good to Amir...
