weight cutting is the most overrated disadvantage ever thanks to oscar....

bernard hopkins weighed 175 and cut down to 170 twice to beat wanky and pavlik.....shane mosley cut 7 pounds without missing a beat.....manpac went up to 126 and down to 122 before....

oscar decided to be a dumbass and lose 5 pounds the wrong way by eating ostrich meat, seaweed, and all that other fruity ****.....he wouldve lost to manpac even if he could throw punches he wasnt good against forbes he just wouldnt have been dominated every minute....most of his downfall is due to switching trainers and parttime fighting.....

oh and slowing down due to weight gain is overrated too....manpac mayweather yones and hopkins have all looked better after putting on significant weight....

people always used to discredit ray leonard by saying he made the lhw champ cut to 168 but leonard went up and bopped haglers skull and had the same speed as well....

as long as fighters sign the contract, no one should worry about that external **** and just focus on the actual fight in the ring

bernard spent 10 years at middleweight... he had 2 fights at 175, and went to 170... hardly a big deal

at 168 roy was fighting nobodies like the beat cop so he could ko em easier.....he was the same fighter at 175.... similar to mayweathers case he just cant **** at 147 like he did at 135 so he has to move more, all it takes is using more smarts then...

if you cant move up in weight successfully and make excuses like pavlik then youre just a dumb fighter....provided you have the body mass, like hagler did not have the frame for 175 so he couldnt move up there.......as long as youre not fighting a giant its all good....

Roy and floyd were better at lighter weights, they just were.

Dropping 5 pounds for some fighters can be hell for some fighters and it can be easy for others.

In Oscar's case he hadn't made 147 since 1999 and so it was hell for him getting back down

It's how Oscar cut. He not only went to the WW division, but he showed up at 147 {??} by fight-time instead of being able to put on 10+ pounds by fight-time.
So say he was 160+ for Forbes by fight-time. 160-147 = 13 pounds. If he was more than 160, that's even more weight to lose.

Roy and Floyd would better at lighter weights.

Hopkins was also new to the weight after years of keeping his body tuned to the 160 division. And I'm not sure how much weight he gained by fight-time so you have to factor that in for his 160 days.

You are right; I always knew Holmes would school Ali's ass like that. Same with Berbick and Spinks.

Weight cutting can be a a big deal if done the wrong way, or it gets messed up. If a fighter stays in good shape it should not be a huge factor, but for fighters that ballon up inbetween fight this is something that will always get them in the end.

Weight cutting is dangerous thing if you don't do it correctly... Someone who never did it, will never know how dangerous it can be.
