Dawson-Tarver II: The Pre-Fight Report Card

By Cliff Rold - There will be, have been, ample arguments about whether this fight is ‘necessary.’ What we do know is the challenger, this time around anyways, was savvy enough to write a rematch clause into the contract for bout number one. [details]

So silent as if it is a cemetery...

I wonder if there would be an upset, will the topic be as "crowded" as it is right now...

I'd be surprised if dawson doesn't knock tarver out. Tarver has declined so much. He has no stamina and no pop in his punches. He is forty year old and he fights like he is!

Does anyone know if this is showing in the UK - I quite like both Tarver and Dawson...also didnt realise Tarver was 40 the old dog! Full respect for sticking it out...he didnt look that old against Dawson last time!

I checked on Setanta's TV listings a few days ago and saw nothing there. I think there are a few British fights on Setanta 2 if you're interested.

I don't see why Dawson's braintrust didn't offer Tarver some sort of settlement to drop the rematch clause. Especially given the fact that Tarver, even at 40, is always one punch away from resurrecting his career.

Agreed. Such a dangerous rematch. I could see Tarver catching Dawson - who is prone to defensive lapses - just as easily as I see Tarver showing his age.

Ahh cool, I know Marco Huck is fighting tomorrow and the ABAs are showing tonight...

Always frustrating when you have to turn to the internet to watch fights...

Funny, no mention of Tarver going back to Buddy McGirt. McGirt will be his down fall. Not Dawson's speed or youth. Either way, go Tarver!
