  • Klitschko vs. Haye To Have Massive Crowd in Germany

One of the reasons Wladimir Klitschko decided to pursue the fight with David Haye, was because Haye promised he could obtain the Stamford Bridge stadium as a venue for June 20.

Haye failed to deliver, citing the state of the economy as his reason.

However, since plenty of time had already passed, Wladimir decided to continue negotiations and search for a suitable venue in Germany. And being a better man than David Haye, he hasn't failed to deliver!

The fight will take place on June 20th at the Veltins Arena in the German city of Gelsenkirchen. The stadium can hold 65,000 spectators and is home to the German football club Schalke 04.

    Good work Wlad!

wtf? I dont know **** about german soccer but I rather see them fight at good ol' samford bridge; home of the blues.

English soccer stadiums get loud as ****. I dont know so much about a german stadium. However, that is a big crowd if they can fill every seat.

      Chelsea fan?

Anyway, Gelsenkirchen is a wonderful ground, and I think it has a retractable roof which is obviously an important factor, nobody loves Chelsea more than me but that is a better ground than us.

Unlike Boxing matches, Germans make a lot of noise at football matches and are very passionate. In Germany, football is still the game of the people; tickets are very affordable, and I think Borussia Dortmund-a fairly average team have higher attendances than any football club in Europe aside from Barcelona.

This is good news, there could be an atmosphere unlike any other German hosted boxing event.

I remember that game, the ref was disgracefully biased against the English team.

Haye will get a fair chance in the fight though.
