I mean I know I'm going to hear it from Calzaghe's fans, but without flaming, just tell me why he decided not to fight B-Hop. I mean I give Bernard a great chance.
So is it just me or does ne body else want to see Hopkins Calzaghe II

I know right, I definitely don't want to Hopkins vs. Jones II. Not unless they got a time machine to take it back to '97...lmaoComment

He did fight B-Hop, and beat him. He was under no obligation to give him another shot. Calzaghe doesn't like B-Hop. Had he beat RJJ, who he does like, on a split decision a rematch might have happened. Other than that, the only credible fight was Dawson which I suspect he dismissed as high risk and low reward.
I wouldn't want to see a rematch as, frankly, it was a bloody awful fight.Comment

^^Yeah it was boring. But those ugly, boring fights Hopkins tends to win, so I think Calzaghe wasn't in for that close of a fight. I think he wanted to pick and choose turkeys like he's done his entire career.Comment

I want to see a rematch and I do think it would be much more exciting too. I think both fighters would do their part to be more crowd pleasing.
And I've noticed that for most calzaghe fans on this site the happiest day of their lives was when he retired, lol.Comment

Personally, I wouldn't want to see a rematch. These are two fighters with styles that are just so ugly to watch when you put them together. Both can look amazing against the right opponent, but there is something about their styles which can never in a million years look good against each other. It was a super-ugly fight and it's difficult to watch it now. I don't think a rematch would look any different.
A fight with Dawson would be much more appealing.
Why didn't Joe want to give him a rematch? It's just not something he does, like it or not. I think he likes to fight and move on. He has given only one rematch in his entire career (Mario Veit) and that was because he was forced to do so, otherwise he would have been stripped. Mandatory challenger. The only other person who was offered a rematch is Robin Reid, but Reid turned it down.
Joe Calzaghe has been contemplating retirement for around 2 years. Rematching Hopkins is something he wouldn't do because I doubt he wants to fight ugly, boring fights at the end of career.
