I wish Joe Blow had done more in his career...

I don't mean mindlessly throwing anything (before you say anything Calzaghe did land more punches on Hopkins!), I mean coming forward throwing and getting out before Hopkins can counter punch.Comment

Ok...and that's still not how Jones beat Hopkins. Hopkins was the aggressor in that fight, not Jones. You either haven't seen that fight in its entirety or much of Bernard in the 90's because Hops wasn't just a counterpuncher, he was an extremely aggressive fighter with a sound defense who absolutely overwhelmed his opponents.Comment

1. So he wanted to move up...means...he was struggling to make weight? That's pretty funny seeing how he weighed 156 for Oscar right before that.
2. Finally, can you explain how he's more of a natural LHW than MW even though nearly all of his fights were at MW, usually weighing in the late 150's?
So what Margarito weighed 145 for the Mosley fight and he isnt a natural WW he boils himself down. Hopkins had to boil to make weight he is also huge bigger than Jones, Johnson, Calzaghe all of whom did their best work fighting bigger guys.
One of the biggest elite MW ive seen fightinh welterweights is hardly an achievement.Comment

Like I said; I think that win is overrated but it's still a great win for which Bernard deserves credit. To answer your question...yes. The win is as impressive as it appeared to be then. How could it be anything less? To compare Jeff Lacy to Felix Trinidad is, for lack of a better term, ludicrous. One is a Three-division champ who will one day march into the Hall of Fame. Lacy only gets in on a visitors pass. Furthermore, Trinidad was ranked either #1 or 1a pound for pound when Hopkins fought him. Lacy has never sniffed the dirty dozen. Bad...very bad comparison.
If you don't mind me asking, have you made a top 100 list? and if so... were do Bernard and Calzaghe place respectively?
Like I stated before:
This isn't me bashing Bernard..... I just want to put things into
perspective.Comment

I've watched the Jones fight, but it was a while back, so my memory can be hazy there. I've only reached watched Hopkins' fights since Allen. I'm downloading some earlier ones, but haven't watched them yet.Ok...and that's still not how Jones beat Hopkins. Hopkins was the aggressor in that fight, not Jones. I'd like to see a reason why a win over a 29yr old, 40-0 (33), three-division champ who is rated #1 pound for pound could be overrated. You comparing it to Lacy is just out of this world.Like I said; I think that win is overrated but it's still a great win for which Bernard deserves credit.

But then again, notice how we're talking about just one win? And that win trumps any on Joe's resume.
I haven't made a top 100 list but Hops is top 50, Joe is top 100 on mine, perhaps less. While his consistency cannot be denied, could you possibly rank him higher when his best win could possibly be over Mikkel Kessler?Comment
