Juan Manuel Marquez, Juan Diaz Vow To Win on 2/28

LOS ANGELES - Mexican icon Juan Manuel Marquez solidified his place among boxing's elite and became Mexico's number one fighter by knocking out Joel Casamayor and winning a championship in a third weight class. As 2009 opens, Marquez will not be resting on his laurels, as he accepted the challenge to face former three-time lightweight champion Juan "The Baby Bull" Diaz on Saturday, February 28th in what promises to be an early Fight of The Year candidate. this is an interesting fight to call...hmmmm, I'ma edge it with Marquez due to his experience and ring generalship and how he can trouble the Diaz like Nate did...

give lots of credit to JMM. hes not just sitting around, and this fight is a huge, huge risk for him.

            I cant wait.

im gonna say juan diaz take this, the only notable opponent in JMM resume is the pacman, he beat barrera who is shot and old, casamayor was also old and shot (got a gift with the fight with sta cruz, cris john beat him in indonesia. barrera and morales are still mexicos finest

Im hoping Diaz pulls of the upset to jumpstart his comeback career. Marquez started a little slow at 135 against Casamayor until he later adjusted. Diaz will keep swinging and coming forward. Marquez can counter all night long but I think Diaz is a tough kid. Diaz is fighting in his home town which hopefully helps him out. Pull off the upset Baby Bull.

I honestly thought Marco beat Marquez and got robbed for that knockdown. I felt their was a conspiracy behind that fight being that both fighters were promoted by Golden Boy and Marquez was starting to become a big name (after his fights with Pacquiao, which is the reason why people even notice him) and Barrerras career was going downhill anyways. So why give it to a fighter whos career is going downhill. Marquez got his win over a Barrerra that had been in Wars with Morales and man handled by Pac.
