CompuBox Stats: Wladimir Klitschko Dominates Rahman

Another jabfest victory for Wladimir Klitschko, who landed an average of 21 of 41 jabs thrown per round. The sluggish Hasim Rahman couldn’t get past that stick of Wladdy’s, landing just 14% of his total punches. Rock landed less than three power shots per round. 68% of Wladdy’s punches thrown were jabs. Well we know he landed lots of jabs. Problem is I wanted to see more right hands, left hooks, and uppercuts from the guy. He could've taken out Rahman much earlier than he did but as usual Wladdy fought scared against an overmatched opponent and made it another event to forget.

This has to be the most lopsided set of statistics ever for a fight that went as long as it did. 33-3 in the third? I watched that round twice and can't find the three punches Rock supposedly landed.

Don't put too much stock in Compubox stats. I watch fights and often wonder how the hell they come up with these numbers. It's real hard to count landed punches while a fight is going on live and the Compubox guys are no experts in the craft. Only guy who seems to give the Compubox guys credit is old Mr. Magoo Jim lampley.

I remember they had Tyson landing 60 punches against Lewis. Where were these suppossed lands I don't know because had Tyson really landed 60 clean punches in the fight Lewis might have been in real trouble.

The right way to use CompuBox statistics is in context, as part of the story. And a good writer or announcer who has watched/is watching the fight will be able to do just that.

These statistics are indicative of precisely what they seem.

The stats are wrong. I did not see a single punch that Rahman landed.
