Hatton/Malignaggi - Possibly Their Last Time to Shine?

By Troy Ondrizek - This upcoming weekend offers us a few fights of intrigue. In a battle of solid light heavyweights; Hugo Hernan Garay defends his WBA trinket against Juergen Braehmer. Celestino Caballero is attempting to be the first to whip “The Canadian Kid” Steve Moiltor, and in what could be the best fight of the entire weekend; James Kirkland and Brian Vera will probably forgo technique and try to alleviate one another from their collective consciousness. While these are all good fights between good fighters (ok, so I’m being generous), none of these fights/fighters are the marquee attractions. [details]

If Paulie loses, he's got time to rebuild himself cuz he's young, but what other big fights are there for him at 140? Possibly the Torres-Holt 3 winner, but that's it. If Hatton loses, he's gonna be done gettin big fights also. Pretty serious fight for both these guys. It should be good.

Yeah i agree but what about his hand?? I remember hearing him say if he breaks it another couple of times it will force him into retirement. I personally think win or lose Paulie will be done by the time he is 30.

ay no point did u read anything about this being Hatton's last chance in this piece. But you probably didn't read this article. There really aren't any more big fights out there for Hatton after this and unfortunately just about the same could be said of Malignaggi, plus his hand issues have shortened his career.

It doen't matter enjoy the SCRUM...and drink up!!!

If Paulie loses, he is still a fresh fighter he will be back, if Hatton loses can he mentally want to bring himself back to the top. I mean he has made tons of cash loves the simple offerings of life, family, friends the pub. Explain to me why keep waking up running 6-7 miles every frickin morning, then round after round of bagwork, sparring etc. Ricky Hatton has earned the respect of all men around the world as a fighter.
