I didn't think many of them had much power on it, but respect to Calzaghe.

Never trust CompuBox stats in a Calzaghe fight but I wouldn't be surprised if he landed the most against Jones, a great many punches were getting through his guard.

Calzhage has proven himself a great fighter. I covered this fight live at press row, for a local publication in NY. Firstly, Calzhage deserves credit but I hesitate to heap anymore credit on this victory, than is merited.

I have followed the careers of both gentleman, live on many occasions. Having said that, the man Calzhage fought tonight was not "RJ", it was OJ (Old Jones). The knockdown in the first round had Calzhage hurt, if this was RJ from 5 years ago, Calzhage would have been down and out.Again I think Calzhage is a great fighter, however I wish he would take the chance and fight Chad Dawson. Having said that, it was a great night and damn those Welsh women!

You're not very good with nuance, are you? I've given Calzaghe plenty of credit. I was alluding to the Hopkins punch stats which were ludicrous.

                  Boxing purist

As a boxing purist, it's very difficult to gage, where Joe Calzaghe ranks, on the all time list, because his defining victories have come against two fighters, who are no longer in their primes. I am not a Calzaghe fan, but I give credit, to where it is due. he's good, no question, but great I would beg to differ. he waited to long before he came to the US, and if this fight had ocurred in 02 or 03, the outcome would have been completely different. What destoys boxing, is the damn politics, that doesn't allow fighters to fight one another in their primes. Throw out all the B.S. and the promotions, and let the best fight the best when they are both at the top. The best fight at 175, is Joe vs. Bad Chad, but because he's not a household name, it probably won't happen, but Dawson is the best opponent at 175, for Joe. The victory over a 39 year old R.J. doesn't impress me much, because Roy is way past his prime. When the best fights the best, in their primes, you get Cotto vs. Margarito, by far the best fight of 2008, and also, a fight that did not have to occur. They did not have to fight one another, but they did. This is what makes boxing the best sport in the world, but when you shove Calzaghe/Jones down our throats at a cost of $55, it's also why a boxing purist such as myself, has only ordered one fight this year, and that's Cotto/ Margarito, the best fight of 08, by far!!!
