I respect him, as do any knowledgeable fight followers. He is by far the best commentator, the most acute analyst, and the best picker of fights on view over the past 25-35 years.

Not to mention that iot is very rarely that his score is not close to that of the judges, or what the viewers thought.

In this show, he had the impossible task of trying to keep viewer interest.

Just a couple of days ago, when I saw the Barrera weigh-in pictures, with Darrera grinning away, and looking as if he was going to eat a juicy steak, I looked up Danny Ventura on Boxrec saw his record of 25 wins-19 losses-16 by KO, PLUS the fact thast in his last 10 fights he'd been KO'd 7 times, ........I WROTE to this very site saying that Don King should get life in gaol for such a mismatch, and that it would only be part payment for his sins against fighters.

None of this was Sheridan's fault. You obviously are a fairly recent boxing viewer, but, before Old Bob, who really isn't very old at all, got his heart attacks, he was the guy in most demand, and Don King quickly signed him up. This was when King was VERY BIG and the major promoter.......so....maybe you know better???

Sheridan is the best stand-alone commentator on boxing. He may not beat crews of three men on HBO/Showtime but he's easily the most entertaining guy in the arena. Sometimes you hear the bored HBO crew overshadowed by Sherdian hollering in the background, he makes ANY fight interesting.

Without digging around to look, and i could be wrong, but I seem to recall that it is Danny Ventura not "Sammy".

Yet, "Sammy Ventura" seems to ring some sort of bell in my mind (not ears) ......maybe a different fighter, or a book character or .....???

It's funny how you say any knowledgeable fight follower because the suggestion to induct him into the IBHOF was shot down with unanimity. Then again, I guess a collection of the best boxing writers in America probably don't follow boxing too closely.

Sheridan is a Don King employee, which is why you see him doing all of the DK PPV cards. He is not an unbiased commentator, he says whatever makes his employer's interests look best. If something shady went on, do you think he'd say anything?

              HELL NO!
