  • Joe Calzaghe Hated Living in Naseem Hamed's Shadow

"Joe Calzaghe – My Life Story," is a biography style DVD, co-produced by Calzaghe himself. The DVD is getting some good reviews from the UK media. One part of the film will focus on Calzaghe leaving promoter Mickey Duff to hook up with Frank Warren. Calzaghe stayed with Warren for over a decade before the two of them parted ways not long after Joe's close decision win over Bernard Hopkins in April. [details]

He also never really liked Naz, he thought he was a tool.

The thing was anybody at that time would have been IN the shadows of Naz, He had this aura about him that makes people stop doing whatever they were doing.

Naz once went to a televised snooker game and the moment he came in everything stopped, One of the snooker players still blamed him till today for causing him to lose concentration...Even Mayweather was in the shadows of Naz thats why he wanted Naz to fight him.

Joe needs to shut up and quickly. People forget what a hyprocite the man is and this is coming from a Calzaghe fan too.

He hated living in Hamed's shadow? Well, let's ask the question; why was he in Hamed's shadow in the first place? Why was Hamed bigger than him? Why did Hamed get the mega money fights that Calzaghe is getting only NOW?

Calzaghe stayed in Europe and was seen as the 'quiet man' of boxing, a protected fighter by Warren who didn't want to fight the best.

Hamed on the other hand made a name for himself, through his showmanship and called mega names out. The world sat up, noticed and wanted to see him fight again. Could the same be said for Calzaghe?

Hamed actually flew over the Atlantic and fought numerous names. When did Calzaghe do that? Just once!!!

Calzaghe was too reclusive and hated publicity and never courted anybody who could help promote him. Hamed on the other hand revellled in the limelight.

I don't know why Joe is scratching his head over this....it's his own fault. He's numerously pulled out of many promotions and big events (oh my hand is "broken"), was too scared to fly and didn't venture out of his comfort zone. And he is wondering why he was in Hamed's shadow? Joe....grow a brain.

Same applies to Ricky Hatton who is arguably Britain's most popular boxer. Ask youself why is he that popular? Why....because he has made a name for himself outside the ring, appearing on every TV station there is, having a joke and a laugh with everyone. Joe hasn't and that is why, until 2006, he was chasing £500,000 purses while Hamed was getting £10,000,000 in 2000 and why Hatton made £15,000,000 from fighting Mayweather alone.

You don't have a personality Joe. Your fault, Joe. Nobody else's.

Doesn't matter dude, as soon as Hamed came up against a real fighter he got clowned. Calzaghe has more class and less gimmicks. That's a good thing where I come from.
