If Joe defeats Roy, will the people picking Jones to win give him credit?

Calzaghe is on the P4P list.

If Calzaghe beats him, not really a HUGE deal. It's just a good name on his resume.

      Now, if Roy beats him............

His face will be added to Mt. Rushmore.
HAHAHAHA, I noticed that too. It was almost like he was thinking: Tell me you have enough footage because I need to stop; it's been almost a quarter-mile. That was just sad.
He doesn't have legs anymore. I really hope it was somehow an "off" day or an act.

I love how people say that Joe is in his PRIME!

I mean at that age it must be inspiration for other fighters who continue fighting in there late 30's

If we are comparing who is closer to their Prime, Joe is treading water in the pool while Roy is face first in the dead-man position.

And you should really talk to the Marciano nuthuggers since they feel Charles, Moore, and Walcott were all still in their prime.

Oh, and Calzaghe is undefeated and has never taken a beating so he is still somewhat fresh for his age....even though I don't consider him in his peak anymore; not at all. Once you get into your 30's, your questionable.

And, remember, Hopkins beat Tito at what age?

And, remember, then there is no credit for beating a 43 year old Hopkins.

And, yes, I do say that everybody ages different based on genetics and the life they lead....so, how old is Joe really?

Lacy and Kessler; two very good wins. Undefeated and held the titles for a long time at 168...good enough.

Calzaghe is going into the HOF.

                Any questions?

I was thinking today about how long today's RJJ would last with a prime version of himself at 170 pounds. I give him 4 one sided rounds before he is KTFO.

Today's Calzaghe would go the distance with his prime self and maybe even win the fight.

It reminds me of what somebody said on the Joe Louis Sports-Century or was it the Marciano???

Anyway, it went something like, and this was after Joe had been KFTO by ROCKY: "Joe looked like one of those bums he used to knock out," referring to the bum of the month.

I thought Hopkins could beat Joe because he had enough left.
In my opinion he did beat Joe and could do it again and more clearly.
But that a whole other thread that was already done before.

I don't think Roy can beat Joe because he have nowhere near enough left and half of his key attributes have degenerated badly.

If Roy beat Joe. I will be surprised in a good way.
But Roy still doesn't somehow become Superman again in my eyes.
It would just become clear that it was a case of people seeing The Emperor's New Clothes on Calslappy all along, so he would drop to a B level because he shouldn't be losing to a guy so badly faded as Jones Jr. this near to his prime.

So you and I know the truth. Beating this Roy means **** for Calslappy.

Who cares what a few unrealistic people think?
They are called 'fans' for a reason. They believing in a dream.
Of course some of them are expecting Roy to turn back the clock agin all logic.
Of course some of them don't like Joe and will not want to give him any credit when he does what he is supposed to do.
That's just how this machine works.

Your approach as a individual is all you need to concern over.

If you have a complaint. Be the change you want to see.
I agree with everything you said after "Hopkins beat Joe". Like you said, that's another topic. I don't care if people give him credit or not. I said it would be unfair of them, but I won't get angry or give 2 ****s really. As a huge Calzaghe fan I will not give him credit for beating Roy. If Roy somehow does win, it will indeed prove that Joe was overrated, because I have seen almost all of Roy's fights and he is not who he once was. The Roy of the 2000s looks like **** compared to the Calzaghe of the 2000s, so if Roy wins it will mean that Joe did indeed fight bums and that was the reason why he looked so good. But it will also mean that Roy DID train hard and recaptured some of his old magic, because what we've seen of Calzaghe this decade is much better than what we've seen of Jones. Calzaghe did a much better job on two undefeated young guys (Lacy and Kessler) than what Roy did against a much lesser undefeated young guy (Hanshaw)

Sure, he did'nt finish him off because he is a nice guy. He could have got on the gas and got him out of there right after the knockdown if he wanted to. Bank on that. I watched the fight LIVE and then when I got back home on the PPV recorded. I thought Jones looked good in person and even better on the telecast. It was easy to see who landed the meaninful shots. You are either blind or never saw the whole fight.
Whatever he wanted? He was on the ropes doing NOTHING 85% of the fight. Whenever he left the ropes and got on the center of the ring he was kicking ass. Hanshaw couldn't match his speed when he was active, but that rarely happened. You can't win rounds by laying on the ropes motionless.
