If it was in the contract, Tarver can claim damages from him not staying true to the contract and sue Dawson.
Trust me, this fight will happen.
There was no contract with the whole Diaconu thing, that was just the sanctioning body ordering it. All that was at stake for that was the belt.
If Dawson signed the contract, he is legally bound, and he can, and will, be sued if he doesn't go through with the rematch if Tarver wants it.

All Dawson has to do is drop the IBF belt and problem is solved.He just had to give up his belt for that.
If he doesn't take this fight, he is giving up money, because Tarver will have his ass in court for breech of contract. He'll fight the rematch I'm pretty sure.
