I like Mr. Stewart's articles. This one kinda restores a sense of balance in between all the "Kelly Pavlik is about to KO Bernard Hopkins" posts. Thanks.

Bernard Hopkins is one of the special ones.
        Fuckin'a right he is.

And as someone already stated, the article restores a sense of balance around here at least slightly.

Picking Pavlik to beat Hopkins is fine, but picking him to knock Bernard out reeks of ignorance to someone like myself. 'Nard is rarely caught flush, and when he is he's taken some of the best shots guys like Tarver and Trinidad had to offer. The notion that Pavlik is going to knock him out is something only bandwagon fans and Hopkins haters seem to postition themselves with.

For the rest of us, there is reality.

It looked like a good article

"a record that will likely never be broken - 20 successful defenses of the 160-pound crown."

That's when I stopped reading and the bold is what makes this article JUNK.

I am sorry for the author but it is irresponsible to write bull**** like that. Hopkins belt was a strap, not THE championship belt. He won a vacant belt fighting Marcado, after failing to conquer the same belt fighting Jones. That is not the begeinning of a reign.

Hopkins became THE champ when he beat Tito or when he beat Keith Holmes. Hence he made 6-7 defenses of the middleweight crown.

Also, didnt Joe Calzaghe just equalled this unparalleled achievement with his wbo 168 trinket? And Calzaghe did not even lose his belts, he vacated them to move up.

Hopkins doesnt need stories like this made up to be a great.

EDIT: I went on reading, the rest of the article is very interesting, but the quote above is still irresponsible bull****.

Say what you want. Believe what you want. But love him or hate him this article was one of "THE" best articles about Bernard Hopkins in awhile. I enjoyed it very much and I'm not even a big fan. I'm a fan but he's not a favorite of mine.

I respect everything he has done in and out of the ring. I respect him at the age of 43 almost 44 and having the heart and will of a 30 year old. I personally have great respect for him or any person for that matter that treats there body like he does and keeps himself in shape and makes the right choices about staying fit.

Overall even though Hop isn't always an exciting fighter and has his "bag of tricks" he will be missed in the sport and will be remembered for a very long time.

ATG/HOF stat! Something Clinton Mitchell, Jermain Taylor and Joe Calzaghe will never be. Ever! These are the guys that some would believe earned a gift from the boxing gods. I'm sure they are thankful and prey every day.

The question is, will Pavlik be the first to stop him or will the gods present yet one more gift to the younger opponent?

I like the new champ Pavlik and I respect the old champ Hopkins but I'm going with youth and the passing of the torch theory. Hop will frustrate Pav and make it an ugly fight, but Pav's youth, heart and work rate will get him the victor in a more convincing matter than Calzaghe did.

I think when its all said and done, respect will be "in the air tonight" with the elder stepping down and the young kid moving forward with the stamp of approval from The Legend, The Hall Of Famer and An All Time Great: The "Executioner" Mr. Bernard "B-HOP" Hopkins.
