Kelly Pavlik Plans To Quickly Test Hopkins' Age

In less than three-weeks, WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik will rise to the catch-weight of 170-pounds to challenge Bernard Hopkins. The October 18th bout is a battle of the new guard vs. the old guard. Hopkins returns from an April loss to Joe Calzaghe. Some observers felt Hopkins did enough to deserve the decision. Pavlik plans to take the fight to Hopkins from the opening bell to set a very fast pace to see just how much the veteran fighter has left. [details]

I think thats a good idea. BUT, he better watch out for one of those counters from the old master.

The executioner would have beat him but not B-Hop. Pavlik by 9th rd KO!

I see what you are saying, Mel. But Pavlik cracks a lot harder then Zags. If he can hurt Hop early, he can finish. Like I said though, there is always that danger of getting caught by a big counter from Hop, if he gets too reckless.

i agree man, but it's just so hard to hit bhop clean, especially early. i do think that if kelly can work the jab well he has a better shot to do it earlier. his str8 punches, with a good jab may be tough for bhop.
