If you watched the 2nd Tarver fight, Jones fought up to get to his feet. He was absolutely blindsided by the punch Tarver threw, never seen it coming. Completely outcold, and fought to get up at the count of 8 dip****. Wobbled to a neutral corner and the ref stopped the fight.

Then Jones was serverely KO by Johnson. Yes a solid punch around the back of the ear, towards the back of the head. Jones took a Grade A ass whopping in this fight. But also, note how hard he struck the canvas with the back of his head. Ive had about 4-5 concussions myself. One in which I hit the ground so hard i pissed myself and was outcold for about 2 mins until I woke up in a cold sweat from head to toe and piss all in my ****. When u hit the ground, a hard surface, like a ring that hard on a straight fall, u will not get up my friend.

There's alot of truth in what you say. That KO by Tarver was a very lucky punch, actually thrown with his eyes closed, and there's no way Roy could've seen it coming, much less done anything about it as as close and out of position as he was. Just one of those shots that you can't do anything about, and as long as he played the odds, it's amazing he'd never caught one like it before that night.

And like you say, the Johnson KO, part of that damage was caused by his head hitting the canvas. He was hurt much worse by this one that by the Tarver punch. Tarver rocked Roy, but Johnson + Canvas rendered him completely unconcious. I felt really bad for Roy that night (both nights, actually), it was a tough break, such a short time after his loss to Tarver.

Joe won that fight by a wide margin and there was never any question that he would do so.

He was not even a little bit hurt.

It's sad that Hopkins fans hang onto this. It's like losing a basketball game by fifteen but bragging about the shots you made anyway.

Roy was attempting to throw his own left hook which didn't help the fact that he didn't see it coming even more so. Also Roy is known for throwing things like a lead left hook rather then a jab, simply becuase its harder to counter a left hook then a jab. On this night that didnt work. I wont call it a lucky punch, any punch that is thrown with that kinda intent is meant to land, just the way it did with Tarver, but ur def right, he did in fact have his eyes closed.

And believe me, a head and a hard surface like cement and a ring canvas for that matter, which has absolutely no give whatsoever and not meant for each other. Further more so when u have no ability to brace yourself like in which Roy had none of in falling to the canvas after the right hand from Johnson.

I had no time to brace myself, it was head and concrete, concrete won in a bad way, I spent 2 nights in the hospital and suffered from cold sweats for a few days during which I would wake while sleeping. The head is not meant to hit such hard surfaces such as these. Point Blank!

Adelaide Byrd was the sole source of dissention in that decision, the other two cards had Zaggs comfortably ahead. If you're using that crazy ***** as an anchoring point to imply that Hopkins might've really won......

Technically, though, you're 100% right, it was a split decision.
