I was just looking through my wallet and found this card some guy had gave me while i was in vegas. It was after the Cotto_margarito fight. We were playing poker on the same table at the palms from like 12-4am. All we did was talk non-stop about boxing past, present, and future. It was this older bald guy and a white girl, athletic looking with short hair. She really impressed me with her knowledge of the sport i thought to myself damn she knows her ****. Well after two hours the guy tells me he's a professional boxing trainer. He starts telling me stories about guys that he has sent to spar with Margarito, judah, and a few others. He also tells me he is the ex trainer of former WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev. The girl that i was talking to her name is Layla McCarter and she is a world champion heres her website: http://www.laylamccarter.com . The trainers name is Luis A Tapia. Have you guys ever heard of any of these two people. I thought it was pretty cool and both of them seemed like nice people.

They are both on Boxrec. She has a bunch of loses but most of them were early in her career. Tapia had 5 fighters that are listed other then her that are under his guidence, the top guy is probably Friday Ahunanya who recent beat Alonzo Butler on ESPN.Comment

Yea, I have never really heard of him but that doesn't mean much. He could be a sweet trainer that has not had a big break yet. Now i know though lol atleast a littleComment

Tapia helps train mma fighters in boxing out in Vegas as well. Just like Freddie Roach is doing with Andrei Arlovski. From what people I know who have met him say, he is a very technical trainer and specializes in footwork and sitting on your punches. He is also very demanding and works guys asses off. Apparently he takes the Bill Parcells approach or at least did with the guys I know.Comment
