Cut to the Chase: It's Time for Instant Replay in Boxing

By Ryan ******** - There was a time when the referee was said to have the best seat in the house in a boxing fight. Yet more and more you wonder if refs should clock in from the comfort of a couch and an HD television. [details]

I agree, instant replay should be implemented in boxing.

They shoulda had it a long time ago. They won't use instant replay, but they do open scoring. WTF?

The instant replay could be really useful. For ruling headbutts, low blows, legals knockdowns, fighters spiting their mouth piece, rabbit punches all that kinds of s**t.

Exactly, and it's not like it detracts from the sport a bit. I really don't see any drawbacks to using it. What's the worst that could happen, you admit you made a mistake?

I would agree, but only in the case of fouls. I don't want judges backtracking constantly during a fight. A minute is not enough time for it, and it would **** their attention on the present round if they were worrying about whether or not instant replay was going to prove them wrong on a previous round. But in the case of fouls, especially intentional headbutts and low blows, I'd love to see instant replay used to prove or disprove a foul. It would put a ****ing stop to alot of intentional fouls inside when a ref doesn't have view of it. I despise dirty fighters.

It was pretty sad to see what really happened but not being able to use it that day.. they knew for a fact it was a headbutt yet they called it a TKO because the ref didn't see it at the time. Why hasn't boxing improved with the times? It seems like we are the only sport who doesn't use instant reply when we have the capability to know a days.

Yeah, using it to score fights is a bit excessive.
