Azumah Nelson Advises Joshua Clottey To Stay Focused

Hall-of-famer Azumah Nelson has given some advice to his countryman, and new IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey. He wants Clottey to continue his mentality of a hungry challenger as he continues to march forward in the welterweight division. Nelson feels that Clottey has the skills to be the top dog at 147. Yea you got that right he was a great fighter, the fight with sanchez really woke people up as to how good he really was, he gave sanchez all he could handle on short notice I do believe, you could tell by the look on sanchez's face that he knew he was in a fight.

Nelson is one of the best fighters to come out of Africa, maybe he's even the best. Great fighter indeed.

Fenech did deserve to win the first fight.

yeah the first fight was close and jeff might have deserved the win but i think azumah was going through some personal stuff at the time (i think his wife may have just died or something, not sure) and plus he showed who the better fighter was in their rematch

lol, they had a fight about 5 or 6 weeks ago in oz, fenech won a majority decision lol, means **** all, azumah is like 50 and jeffs 43

I thought Fenech won at least 8 rounds. Nelson said he was recovering from malaria and had elbow troubles for their first fight. He did totally outclass Fenech the second time around though.

I saw that fight, Fenech won but Nelson had his moments countering off the ropes and Fenech pulled a DLH in the last 2 rounds.

                Some Azumah Nelson fights:

I can see some similarities between their styles, although Nelson was a bigger puncher.

Thanks for those excellent videos. Nelson was a true great. He and Pacquiao would have been a wonderful fight although I do rate Nelson above both Morales & Barrera as he was a better boxer AND puncher than both. With a better chin. At feather/super feather Nelson was a beast - his performance in the rematch against Fenech rates as one of the most masterful performances in a superfight ever.

Clottey would do well to listen to a great like Nelson.
