IBF #1 welterweight Joshua Clottey (35-3, 21 KOs) won a ninth round technical decision over former two-division world champion Zab Judah (36-6, 25 KOs) on Saturday night at the Palms Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas to claim the vacant IBF welterweight title formerly held by Antonio Margarito. The bout went to the scorecards after Judah suffered a bad cut over his right eye in round nine. The cut was ruled to be caused by a headbutt, although on replays it appeared to be caused by an uppercut. It was a competitive fight with Clottey seemingly getting stronger as the fight progressed. Scores at the stoppage were 86-85, 87-84, 86-85. [details]
