If he can really maintain his speed at 235-40 pounds then he's going to be a handful for a lot of fighters.

The effect of weight on chin is badly overrated, sure. There's no way Haye has a bad chin at CW but a good one at HW. That's just impossible. He has no defense, no offense, no technique, no chance as success.

        1. i'd hardly call maskaev and rahman bums.

        2. people always bring up the super middleweight business. if you're talking about carl thompson , like all the other wlad guys on here are , he's not and never was a super middleweight. he had a few fights at 175 but most of his career was a 190 or 200. saying haye got knocked out by a super middleweight is like saying morales got knocked out by a strawweight pacquiao.

        3. the weight drain thing has merit. cotto got rocked and dropped at 140 but even while taking a beating from marg , he didn't get knocked down really. he took a knee to avoid further punishment. he got beat up but his chin i consider solid at 147 now.

Thompson had quite a few fights at LHW, where he was stopped twice. And in two of those fights, he weighed 171. So basically you're arguing over 3 lbs. Thompson was 40 years old and had been stopped 5 times already, he was a guy Haye was supposed to blow out of there.

Lolenga Mock, who dropped Haye and had him hurt, with a single glancing shot, is currently fighting at SMW.

No one has ever had any success at HW after previously being stopped in the lower weight classes. No one.

No one? What about James Toney who lost at SMW to RJJ and at LHW to Montel Griffin. Toney then went on to unify at CW and win a HW title against Ruiz.
