But now... against Lacy... a true SMW when Taylor couldn't KO 154 lbers... everone is picking Taylor by stoppage.

If this doesn't show how far into the gutter Lacy has fallen, I don't know what does.
True... Calzaghe Destroyed Lacy and his career as a boxer. He got a pummeling after goin in as favourite and has never been able to recover

At least Kessler has picked himself back up and one another title... although Kessler didnt lose ever round and get decked by Calzaghes 'slaps'

Anyone think Calzaghe should fight Taylor?

**** no. Theres absolutely nothing to gain from beating Taylor right now. Unless you're in a Jeff Lacy type position which Joe is certainly not.

Leave it to Pavlik to pick up Joe's scraps, not the other way round.

Joe should get Jones outta the way then finish off against Pavlik or Chad Dawson (assuming they both win)

After Calzaghe beat Lacy, I remember some people said Taylor-Calzaghe was a possibility, but I don't think they ever had serious negotiations?

Would have been a good fight.

Taylor was offered $5m to fight Calzaghe. Said he was interested then demanded $10m.

Similar situation to what Hopkins did with Calzaghe many years ago.

Lacy's got the early stages of Fernando Vargasosis

This is a great fight to get Jermains name back up there. Lacy has'nt fought nearly the calibur of opponents Jermain has. Lacy will always have a punchers chance. He seems to be going down the same path as Vargas. Injuries have run down his confidence.

...Agreed, and it's a horrible mismatch. Lacy is absolutely terrible. Joe ruined him.

I wouldn't even compare him to Vargas because Vargas became a superstar, despite being ruined by Tito, and still fought some of the best guys in huge fights later on down the line. Lacy, on the other hand stepped to the elite once and has never been back and I doubt that he'll show anything against Taylor to get him back there. I'm a Lacy fan and I wish him the best but his career has really gone too far in the wrong direction to ever be back amongst the elite.

There were NEVER serious negotiations for that bout although Calzaghe wanted it pretty badly. I remember point blank asking him about Tarver and Glen Johnson and he referred to Jermain Taylor instead. Simply the truth.

That would be great if Taylor and Calzaghe fought, they would probably make Taylor the close underdog and I could make a ****load of money on the fight.

That being said, I though Taylor vs. Lacy might be a great fight, giving Taylor a good entrance back to the top, and Lacy a chance to re-manufacture his image and career against another former champ.

By god, how horrible Lacy looked against Mendoza. And poor Mendoza, playing donkey to bad decision. Lacy tackled Mendoza, actually tackled him, to avoid going down. He could of seriously injured the guy, what the ****?

Lacy did not deserve that decision, he has no business fighting Taylor.
