Yes. There's no doubt Oscar fought the better opposition. But resume implies accomplishments.

Yeah, but the topic is who fought the better fighters. I agree that it is not necessarily a good measurement for who was better but there is no doubt that Oscar fought more top elite guys.

So 9 world titles in 6 different weight divisions isn't an accomplishment?

              Jim,

You have to look at who they beat. A lot of those titles are trumped up - especially if you don't unify. I mean, Manny Pacquiao just picked up another world title (and fans are gonna rave about that) but really, David Diaz is the worst of the bunch.

9 world titles sound great until you realized he avoided the person considered the "real" champ up until 147. Then he arguably lost to every top fighter he faced there. 154 and 160 was more of the same **** from the lower divisions.

So sometimes you have to keep these "accomplisments" in context.

It has nothing to do with my opinion of either fighter really. Its nothing more than who fought better fighters? Boxer A or B. Its De La Hoya by a mile on this one.

I see NO balance in these RJJ threads. That fact that anyone voted for him, on this question, is just plain scary. They even hate it so much, now thier trying to turn the question around or even question De La Hoya competiton. LOL

Yeah I forgot. Roy fought Lennox Lewis when he wanted a HW title right?

And are you trying to claim that Pernell Whitaker wasn't the "real" champ at 147?

No, but he did fight Hopkins at 160, Toney at 168 and unified 175. But YOU wanna tout "9 world titles." LOL
