    Ain't that a *****.
So all fans of a fighter you personally don't like, should have no credibility from no one. Riiiight.

Out of interest, do you vote, ********ically? Don't get into politics or join anything which requires objective, unbiased judhing, you'll be stamping your views around and wound up shot.

When has Joe even held all three titles?

Hops has whipped so many young fighters it's not even funny.

All Joe has over Hopkins is the number of guys ducked.

The winner of Brewer/Echols was supposed to fight Joe..

      Joe fought the LOSER...

Please, will some of you just leave and never come back? You're posts aren't good enough for me or anyone with intelligence to read.

Place me a date in which Calzaghe could have realistically fought Roy Jones Jr for a fair price and I'll donate you all my points.

November 1996: Jones Jr has his final fight at 168 with Brannon.
November 1997: Calzaghe beats Eubank to win the WBO title at 168.

Could Calzaghe have moved up to chase a fight? Yes. Would he have got one? Unlikely for anything but an insulting payday and even then, many bigger names failed to get a shot at Jones Jr. Let's hypothetically say that Jones Jr offered Calzaghe a shot, with a likely 70-30 split in Jones Jr's favour at best, why would Calzaghe accept this? No way should a world champion have to accept that. Calzaghe's plan was to build a big enough name at 168 before moving up, so he could claim a fair slice of the pie. The problem was that, other than Ottke who avoided Calzaghe like the plague, there weren't big enough fights for Calzaghe at 168. Hopkins wasn't about to jump up a weight while he could defend his belts at 160 comfortably and the best left were former champions like Mitchell. 175 was in a similar state, with the notable exception of Jones Jr himself. There was no point in Calzaghe dropping his belt for similarly small name opponents.

Calzaghe finally got his opportunity with Lacy, but it was a little late.

May 2004: Jones Jr gets knocked out by Tarver.
March 2006: Calzaghe beats Lacy, finally getting the name he wanted.

It's easy for a boxing fan to say that Calzaghe should have fought him for whatever would have been offered, but fundamentally it's a job and a world champion expects better.

As for Hopkins, well we know the story. Calzaghe wanted him years ago, but Hopkins pulled out at the last minute.

Don't get me wrong, I won't defend Calzaghe about everything. For instance, I think he should have gone after Tarver once Jones Jr had been dethroned and I am extremely dissapointed that he has chosen Jones Jr over Pavlik. Calzaghe doesn't deserve the criticism he gets over this though.
