Who should Pavlik fight?

I'd like to see him fight Wright in September, and then unify with Abraham in December.
He should DEFINITELY NOT FIGHT RUBIO, he's not a mandatory like Lockett, so there's no good reason to. It would hurt Pavlik's reputation.
Lorenzo will be an extremely dangerous opponent when the time comes.Last edited by The Hammer; 06-14-2008, 01:33 PM.Comment

In this order: Abraham, Sturm, Winky, Kessler, Calzaghe. He wins all four of those, who could argue his resume and legacy then? Whomever Arum puts him in there with, he will win convincingly and people can stop doubting him. Kelly is unlike any MW we have seen in a longtime. True grit, down to Earth peoples champ. Maybe I'm biased because I live in Youngstown, but come on, the kid got game.Comment

I think he should have taken the Miranda-fight. A fight he surely would win. Miranda is so overhyped in the US it's unfathomable.
Now he took Sartison who is an unknown quantity. From what I heard he's a classic eastern-european product witha stand-up classic style. He's undefeated which means the blueprint for defeating him is unknown and him being undefeated automatically means a threat to the opponent. That being said I cannot see him being any trouble for Kessler whatsoever. Word out of Kessler's camp is that he's better than ever having sparred 150+rounds.
You always have to be careful with a fighter coming of his first loss, so I think the fact that this fight being in Kessler's homecountry against a (probably) not so dangerous opponent is an ok career-move. The interesting part comes after this fight. The winner must face the certified tomatocan Danilo Haussler. In the event Kessler wins I hope he can pay Haussler off and then head for a big fight in the US against either Miranda (if he wins the Abraham-fight) or Kelly Pavlik.

I cannot get it to work unfortunately.Comment

Kelly should clean out the middleweight division this year and next, and then move up to 168.
He should fight Wright, Abraham, Lorenzo, Sturm and/or perhaps Mayorga as well.
Then in late 2009 or early 2010 he should move up to 168, where there will be plenty of opponents to choose from: Kessler, Inkin, Froch, Bute, etc.Comment
