Fans of Top Rank fighters can dish it out...

...but they don't seem to like it coming back.

Like a boxer who hasn't done his situps and roadwork. They glide through the early rounds firing off jabs about Mayweather and DLH's businessman like demeanor later in their career. When an opening presents itself, they'll pop a hard right cross in over Winky Wright's, Antonio Tarver's or Bernard Hopkins' paranoid ramblings. Sometimes they'll even deliver uppercuts that ripple down your spine over how foolish Paulie Malignaggi can be or how ineffective Ricky Hatton has been outside of England.

BUT, make a legitimate claim against a Top Rank fighter and they unravel. They can't take hard hooks to the body like Alfonso Gomez should never have been allowed in the ring with Miguel Cotto or David Diaz's fight against Manny Pacquiao doesn't belong on PPV or if Antonio Margarito is really as good as Top Rank fans think he is he should have beaten Daniel Santos and Paul Williams.

Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of Top Rank fighters too; I'm a big fan of Kelly Pavlik. I like Cotto, Argenis Mendez and Juan Manuel Lopez. I'm a big fan of Lamont Peterson and I like Anthony Peterson too. I just don't swear by every Top Rank fighter and fight. But Top Rank loyalists get their panties in a bunch anytime someone says anything remotely negative about a Top Rank fighter or fight. They're the boxing equivalent to UFC fans.

BUT defend Floyd Mayweather or root for Zab Judah, Winky Wright and Bernard Hopkins and you're automatically an ELITIST. Absolutely nobody and I mean NOBODY carries themself in more of an elitist manner than the average Top Rank loyalist. They're constantly describing themselves as "real boxing fans" and "true hardcore fans" as opposed to those of us who admire technical ability and athletic superiority regardless of promotional affiliation who they describe as "Elitists."
