Not only is his footwork not as good, Taylor lacks three things from being a truly great fighter... stamina, defense, and maybe most importantly... confidence. Until then, he does not need to get into the ring with Calzaghe as he would only stand a puncher's chance in the early to mid rounds (as he is always gassed by the 10th and not throwing anything solid).

taylor would get his ass whupped, you get the feeling that joe's footork is something that he at times ignores, when he boxes well like he did against the likes of kessler, lacey etc then joes footwork is probably average at best. however its when he gets reckless like he did against bernard and mitchell that he gets sloppy starts taking silly chances and gets knocked down.

taylors footwork on the other hand is just plain ****
