You act like Williams has been fighting Cotto type opposition his whole career. We all seen what margarito did to Williams towards the end of the fight. I'm sorry but when it comes right down to it Cotto has a better work rate through every round of a fight then Margarito. Cotto doesn't come on later in the rounds. He's right there with you from the start and I'd love to see how Williams will put up with that type of fight. Its easy to say Williams will give Cotto a beating after watching the Quintana fight. But seriously we've seen how Williams goes with the flow and doesn't know how to change it up to pull out the victory. Cotto's been down but he's never been out worked or out powered the same can't be said of Williams. The tempo of the Williams vs. Margarito fight is a key example of why Williams can't keep up with Cotto at 147.

The Future is upon us, his name is Paul 'the Punisher' Williams. And I've spoken out aobut Paul in the short time I've been here. If Cotto is number 1, Paul's number 2. This is a horrible day for Bob Arum's ass and I love every minute of it. I just hope folks around these parts don't transfer their illwill for the newly retired boxing legend PBF Mayweather, and direct it towards PP Williams. However, I have this strange feeling that it is already in the process..

Cotto does not have a better work rate through every round of a fight than Margarito.

Actually if cotto doesn't pace himself he gasses out and has to run... see the mosley/cotto fight

LOL... Williams beat Margarito so how is Williams/Margarito a key example of why Williams can't keep up with Cotto???

Williams throws way more punches per round per fight than Cotto does... If anything, Cotto can't hang with Williams' work rate.

Margarito would have won the Williams fight if he had started earlier. Cotto doesn't do that. How are you going to say Cotto fades easily? He wasn't gased against Mosely he was doing what worked. Countering an aggresive fighter that was going for the KO because Mosely knew he was behind on points. The fact is that Cotto has a better resume than Williams and when they fight Cotto will be victorious at 147. When Cotto destroyed Quintana he made the man quit, in fact Cotto will make Williams quit from constant body work and pressure. Those long arms aren't meant to fight on the inside and it showed against Margarito and Cotto will just expose him even easier.

Cotto has a better resume true. But why aren't you giving Williams credit? He clearly beat Margarito it's done with. Marg had a few strong rounds in the end but it was too late. Anybody think that the constant workrate and ring movement was a factor? Instead of "oh Margarito just got started late."

How about Marg realized he couldn't get a decision so he sold out for a KO. And he couldn't get Williams out period. He tried though.

I've never had a problem with Paul. I'll admit I got disgusted with him when he lost to Quintana the first time, and believed that he might have been more hype then he was. Pauls win over Quintana puts him back in the rankings but I think people are always going to wonder which Williams is going to show up, The punisher or the one that lost to Quintana. Also why did Paul lose to Quintana the first time? Paul said it was an off night, but I wonder if the fight with Margarito may have taken more out of him then we realized and he needed more time to recoup. Oh well its all speculation and we'll have to wait and see what happens. Cotto vs. Margarito had to happen, so does Cotto vs. Williams. Lets hope arum steps it up and puts Cotto in there so we can all see who will be the welter weight King.

My problem isnt with Paul really. I think he is pretty good, but there are these Williams guys crawling out the woodwork all of a sudden saying he will retire Cotto etc. Just cause he KOd Quintana..

Thing is he was supposed to do that first time. Quintana was there to lose and make Paul look good and it didnt go to plan, all he did last night it what he was meant to do the first time. And there are people suddenly saying ehs top ten P4P and will beat Margarito easily (even though he didnt the first time Marg came on late and won a lot of the later rounds) and retire Cotto...

The hype puts me off him.
