Press Release - Former amateur standout Jesus Mendez III signed an exclusive deal with Florida-based promotional company Starfight Productions, it was reported Thursday afternoon.
Mendez, a formal National champion with victories over some of the top prospects in the country including current red-hot prospect Danny Garcia, should be a force to be reckoned with. The featherweight prospect boasts a crowd-pleasing style, and looks to be as exciting as any other prospect to grace the division in recent years.
Signing the kid was a no-brainer for Starfight Productions.
"I spoke with Phillip Delgado and Jesus Mendez Jr. (father/trainer) and we hit it off from the beginning,” said Shea Bailey of Starfight. “I am just glad they have given us the opportunity to help groom Jesus Mendez III into a world champion for the future.”
Mendez will be make is Starfight debut on May 9, 2008 at the A La Carte Pavillion in Tampa, Florida, against an opponent to be named shortly. [details]
