    Cory Spinks: Whole Lotta’ Lateral

By Cliff Rold - Former World champions who sell tickets in a major media market usually have options. Not all former World champions have been as TV unfriendly as former Welterweight king, and current IBF 154 lb. titlist, Cory Spinks (36-4, 11 KO). It’s not that all have his fights have been boring for the average fan to watch; it’s that too many of them have.

I'm a Boxing fan. I fully enjoy watching Spinks. He's a skilled kid.

I'd like to see Alcine in action soon as well..

I'm a boxing fan. I fully do not enjoy watching Cory Spinks. He's a skilled kid.

I'd like to see him take more risks.

Not taking risks is like Wladimir Klitschko.. That's not taking risks.

Spinks is a certain type of stylist.

I think spinks' fighting style is suited for welterweight or jr welter and he should move back down there where he has plenty of fights to chose from. he is a ring generalship, jab type fighter and not a power fighter so I never understood his move up to jr middle and even middle to fight taylor. he is a little over 5'9 and he could easily rack up wins in the lower divisions and would have much difficulty with the bigger guys at jr middleweight division like Vernon Forrest.

does anyone know what channel is broadcasting the spinks-phillips fight tomorrow? I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find this info.

Its weird for a fight to be held on a thursday and not be televised. I would be very surprised if thats the case especially that its a title match.

                  whole lotta b.s.

I am the first to rip cory spinks for running more in the ring then he fights. with this said though a jr middle weight belt holder and ring magazine no 1 desrerves to be on t.v.. Even espn 2 didn't pick this up come on. he has stunk the joint out more then once. spinks is still the top man in the division and a win hear does give him options like a vernon forrest fight which would be for the real jr middle weight tittle or late in the year he could be the fight oscar calls for to end his fighting days. even next year he's the type of fighter i can see the p4p king mayweather taking to aviod cotto. The key of coarse is spinks not just winning but entertaing that way he can still sell out in his hometown of st louis( the only barging chip other then that ibf belf he holds that he has for any big fight).

Spinks can sometimes make a boxing match fun to watch but it don't happen nearly enough. I think the fight with Verno will be better than most people think and I give Verno a decent shot at winning. I wouldn't mind watchin Spinks-Vernon either. I really can't wait for Vernon to whomp Mora.
