  • Sinan Samil Sam-Matt Skelton Set For 5/30

Turkish hero Sinan Samil Sam (30-4-0, 16 KO) and Matt Skelton (21-2-0, 18 KO) will fight for the vacant European heavyweight championship on May 30th in Istanbul, Turkey. Sam’s promoter Ahmet Öner, head of Hamburg based ARENA Box-Promotion, had won the purse bid. “The Bull from Bosporus” wants to recapture “his” title against Skelton who surprised many experts in a close decision loss against Ruslan Chagaev in January. Sam was European Champion between 2002 and 2004 before losing the title controversially to Luan Krasniqi. [details]

two big fat men hugging for how ever many rounds they are fighting. i for one am not interested at all. Sam has potential but his conditioning's obviously extremely poor.

These are two slow, boring tubs of lard.

I saw Sam's October fight, and it was difficult to watch because it was at a snail's pace. Skelton is worse, he doesn't box very well so he wrestles and holds a lot, and fights dirty with headbutts, hitting while holding etc.

Although I think the heavyweight division has more talent than a lot of people say, it's obviously not very deep if the likes of these two are in the top 30.

Sounds like a fight promoters would charge $60 for.
