I would have to say Cotto has more fans in America, maybe. Pre Mayweather/Hatton, nobody in America outside of hardcore boxing fans knew who Hatton was. Post Mayweather/Hatton, and HBO's 24/7 more people know who Hatton is, but I'm not sure I would call them fans.

More than the fight itself, I would have to say 24/7 had more of an impact on how many people in America became fans of Hatton. He has a great personality, and was the perfect antithesis to Mayweather's over the top brash, ****y attitude.

I'm not sure how many boxing fans realize how important 24/7 was to the build up for last two Mayweather PPV. I was watching a non boxing related geeky podcast called Totally Rad Show, where they discuss comics, movies, games. In one segment they started talking about the best T.V. programing when one of the host brought up HBO's 24/7 as one of the best documentaries/television program on television, and how much they loved watching it. I don't remember the exact details of the conversation, but this goes to show how much of an impact 24/7 has had on non boxing fans.

This is relevant as Mayweather chose to fight Hatton... but claims Cotto is no draw????!???? hahahaha Was willing to rely on transplanted fans from Uk ??

Everybody except the certified Cotto haters on this forum agree... Most are obsessed on a **** level with Cotto.

? Hold on junior...... You claim Cotto has NO personality? So in your mind personality is throwing dollar bills in a club and drinking Crystal?? THat **** is a cliche and low IQ. Cotto has a personality... A strong minded Latin man who speaks eloquently and lets his "personality" shine in the ring. When he is breaking shoulders, and leaving Italian dudes looking like Airbag victims... That's personality right there. That BS 50 cent routine Floyd runs all day is garbage. Mayweather is like a child next to Miguel. A regressed ****** rat.

Cotto is by a mile, Hatton vs Castillo sold 13k tickets 3k of them were Americans the rest were English. Before that the majority were English at Boston and at the fight vs Urango. Cotto has been selling out Madison Square Garden for the last couple of years. The Mayweather fight would of hardly got Hatton some new fans, he got battered and outclassed.

I will never ever get why Hatton went to Boston to fight Collazo!

In a **** arena watched by Mancs anyway.

I don't see the point in going to America if your a big name fighter like Joe or Ricky. Not to fight in a two-bit piece of crap arena. Thousands of miles a way.

I think Joe has done it right personally!

Collazo and Urango was an utter waste of time he could have beat them both at the MEN and got it on HBO, surely.

              Castillo was worth travelling for.

Cotto has a very diversified fanbase. I know people think it's only Puerto Ricans but it definitely isn't. Like the one poster said, alot of Mexicans love him too. I've been to about all of his fights here in NJ/NY area, and he brings a wide diverse range of people that cheer for him. I witnessed alot of Irish cheer for him, African Americans, White people, Dominicans, Cubans, just a real wide range of fans he brings to these fights. He widely liked in the Latino communities. He's also at the arena early for the fights, in November he was there for the undercards that began at 6:30 pm, he is down at ringside watching some of his stablemates early bouts sitting with his parents and kids and he converses and shakes hands with the fans already there, he waves to the crowds. Even the Argentinians love him all the way from Argentina.

That soccer jersey he wears to the ring, it's the jersey of Riverplate, one of the greatest Argentinian soccer teams. His cutman Diaz brought him to Argentina and to see Riverplate play, introduced him to the team and he became big fans of theirs and has seen some of their games. They support him in a HUGE way as shown below:

Here's a HUGE Cotto banner with a Riverplate Jersey at a stadium in Argentina.

Hatton by a mile. That HBO 24/7 thing really got him popular among blue-collar people across the States.

I would say before the Mayweather fight, Hatton had more fans here than Cotto has now. Since the Mayweather fight and the booing of the national anthem, I'd say Hatton has lost most supporters here.

It's actually a very good question because Cotto is from Puerto Rico and not from New York. Now please.. go somewhere else with your ******ity.
