By Keith Terceira - The 2008 season of Friday Night Fights seems to be running on fumes and being driven by the inept. Only two months into the year and already it is getting a better reputation for the fights that didn’t happen. Since January we have had fallouts in the main events of Tarvis Sims, Allan Green, and now Harry Joe Yorgey and those are just the ones that are publicly admitted. [details]

Character is the issue with Green
As the promoter of this show along with my co-promoter Seminole Warriors Boxing let me assure you that Allan Green was not being bullied into fighting anyone. Green was on the air the previous week (ESPN) speaking of his proposed fight with Echols and also did interviews with some of the prominent boxing websites. There is no bullying here........the only thing that exists is character.....and Green shows very little not contacting anyone including his own promoter, Tony Holden, much less either of the co-promoters of this show. He needs to be addressed. With answers like, "My head isn't on right"....comes very far from a professional response. His integrity is in question. Let's put the blame where it belongs on this show. Please don't compare us to any other show. I feel that is totally unfair. It's like comparing ***** to Richardson.....two different issues altogether.

I don't like how ESPN is running their business now. They think they're HBO and can dictate whom a fighter will fight. They are not promoters and matchmakers, and they don't pay enough for fighters who have achieved some notoriety to even care about them. They should leave the matchmaking to those who know what they're doing. Of course, they still have the right to refuse to air a fight that they don't think will be good for the ratings, but they should not tell a fighter whom to fight, only whom they don't want on their program.Comment
