    Hatton-Lazcano Announcement Coming Soon

The Lancashire Evening Post is reporting that Ricky Hatton's announcement of fighting on May 24, in Manchester, is coming soon, and may drop as early as this week. Several opponents are in the mix, but every report seems to indicate that Juan Lazcano is the solid frontrunner to land the fight. The bout takes place at 140-pounds with HBO televising the fight in America. Lazcano is Hatton's first fight since a knockout loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. last December. [details]

I don't mind Hatton fighting Lazcano as his comeback opponent but he really has to fight Witter afterwards.

Absolutely, Hatton can have a warm up (though Lascano is no pushover) but after that he has to come back against one of the top boys

i am happy hatton's taking a comeback fight against lazcano, a fight he should win, he can then go on to fight the bigger names at 140

It aint about a big pay day though is it, or bringing anything to the table for this fight other than a comeback/tune up.

He wouldn't get that from Witter. End of. He'd prob get another loss, and two in a row aint good.

I doubt he would lose to Witter anyways, but who says he cant take a decent fight for his first time back rather than a world class fight. Who are you or anyone to judge him based on who he elects to fight after a KO loss?

I don't get what you're saying? I think he should take an "easy" (ier) fight as a come back, as long as he does it convincingly with style. A poor ground out points decision will only lower his stock.

Witter is a big fight for him, mentally has the edge over Hatton considering he was absoloute confidence in a victory. This has ****ed with Hatton's mind and his first K.O loss is a huge knock. That's why he can't take a decent fight straight after, he needs a recovery bout. Witter wont give him this.
