not only a mismatch but for what reason is this happening? Vernon is still one of the best fighters in the world. He has only lost to one fighter in his career and I'm still trying to figure that one out. He is the fighter I would pick if someone asked me to put a fighter in the ring that you think has the best chance to beat PBF. He should be in the ring with Spinks, or Alcine. Or even Mayorga who I think he could beat if mayorga gives him the 3rd fight.

this mora fight is crap. theres no way I watch this fight.

vanes needs more exposure i still havent seen him fight cuz i dont have versus and probably most of the boxing fans dont know who he is
he needs to get into some hbo undercards to be famous like berto
or into a slugfest to be famous like katsidis

A prospect has to prove himself as a contender before he can get a title shot. Vanes has been fighting the run of the mill prospect fodder, I don't even think he's a ranked contender by any of the organizations. If Vanes can walk into a title shot, then Dmitriy Salita deserves a title shot with Gavin Rees, which he doesn't.

I don't think there is any effective argument one can make for Vanes to get a title shot. If he was to be put in with Forrest, it'd probably produce some bad effects for Vanes. Vanes has looked good against his caliber of opposition, but Forrest is another level all together.

with that said.. i think Top Rank and Shelly Finkel know very well which direction they want to take Vanes...

They dont want him to be a one hit wonder, and once he becomes Champion, they want to make sure he STAYS Champion.

last thing Id want to see now is an ego move by Vanes that could turn him into a Vargas eventually. Its fine that he take his time and develop slowly.

Look how great Top Rank did with Pavlik.. the guy was 30-0 and no one really knew him yet, then suddenly they let him loose and he rules the division and will do so for some time.

Im with you as a boxing fan, but as a friend and someone that sees the business aspect of it, im with Shelly and Top Rank.
ya i mean its not going to hurt him bringing him along the way they are, its just the fan in me that wants to see what Vanes can do against proven guys i guess, since hes obliterating the guys he in there with right now.

They are probably just trying to slowly step him up, as most prospects are stepped up.

call it what you want but most of his opponents have had decent winning records.. just cuz Vanes makes them LOOK LIKE bums and hasnt lost a single round yet doesnt mean any prospect could do the same to these opponents.
Thats just REAL talk for you.
