    Jermain Taylor: Mark Breland Redux?

By Terence Dooley - Next weekend, Jermain Taylor takes the most difficult step possible in boxing as he bids to become one of the few men to avenge a KO defeat by virtue of immediate rematch. A Taylor win would put him shoulder-to-shoulder with Tony Zale, Floyd Patterson and Lennox Lewis, men who were KO’d brutally but came back to avenge the KO, by KO, in their very next fight. It is an elite group, and a task that requires skill, mental fortitude and conviction of will. Ironic given that these are three areas in which Jermain has been perceived to have come-up short in recent years.

a week ago, i've mentioned the names:, rory mcRory, mark breland, marlon starling, edwin rosario, donald curry, mike maccallum, meldrick taylor, alexis arguello and aaron prior. its good remembering the names who showered boxing fans with excitements every time they fought. i said i would be glad if such names be mentioned even once in this website. i'm glad it finds space here. mark breland was once a brilliant fighter who succumbed to marlon starling, a fighter almost a foot smaller than breland. don curry was once a champion who was dethroned by mike mcCallum. another defeat from lloyd honeygan make curry disappeared in the spotlight. arguello's fame faded when he got KO'd by prior twice. meldrick taylor lost to chavez. i just hope in the next few days, boxers who reigned supreme in the 80's will find space here again. its a nice article... only that the author failed to mentioned Pacman is one fighter who bounced from his loss to el teribble twice in their famous trilogy. i hope jermain taylor will find his rhythm to avenge his only to pavlik. but i tell you, history has it that when an undefeated champion or a fighter lost a fight, another lose is in the offing.

I am white I'm afraid Hitman mate! Thanks for the comment though.

I left out Pacman as he was not KO'd by Morales and I tried to go for specific guys who had to flip a KO loss. That must be the hardest ask in this sport.

Jermain got a lot of stick but win/lose/draw he faced a tough guy and came right back for a rematch. He has genuine fighting heart and does not hang around.

              May the best man win.
