i still recall the days when buddy mcgirt ruled the lightweight division. and i still recall his bout with meldrick taylor. though mcgirt bowed to meldrick taylor in that title fight, it was a fantastic fisticuffs where both fighters showcase their boxing prowess to the delight of the boxing fans. the greats in that era were (lightweight-welterweight division) mcgirt, taylor, the conqueror of mcgirt, julio cesar chavez, the conqueror of meldrick... we also have marlon starling, mark breland, donald curry, rory mcrory, mike mccallum.. watching those boxers was more than excitement. boxing fans want to watch boxing, not holding, hugging, or running. its very disappointing to watch a boxing match were boxers prefer to run, hug and hold rather than exchanging punches. worth mentioning were camacho, edwin rosario, jose luis ramirez... to name a few. i hope some of the boxers i've mentioned may be featured in a future article... good luck to buddy and james mcgirt.
