Then I watched the Joe Calzaghe fight.

I really can't take someone seriously when they get ****ed up that badly. I mean, that was just embarrassing what happened to him.

I just can't support Jeff Lacy now.

Much the same way that I had problems supporting Mayorga after I saw what De La Hoya did to him.
haha in the back of my mind i root for lacy to have a decent respectable comeback and a good career but my hopes for that don't look to good, I've never been a hardcore lacy guy but i don't know something in me wants him to become respectable again.

the problem lacy has is CONFIDENCE. when your built up to be the next superstar and your destroying people in your path it has to be difficult when you get dominated like that. problem is he's 30 now i think? im not sure he can recapture it in time to make an impact

very true I mean I know he looked ****ty in the manfredo fight but i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt it was the shoulder injury, he needs to build some confidence and KO some dudes to get some confidence

This might seem like an odd choice because he hasn't broken the stratosphere into a real boxing star; but Allan Green. He's a common staple on ESPN2's Wednesday and Friday night fights and at first I was impressed with his skills; his boxing technique, speed and power all made him enjoyable to watch.

Slowly, though, his attitude turned me off. He's confident to the point of having that classic boxing ego- but the McCrary fight turned things around for me. Green went in for the kill, got dropped by a limited fighter- and I loved it.

His attitude didn't change, though. He won that fight, rattled off some more wins and then stepped up against Miranda and got spanked. What next? Excuses about why he lost, why he looks down at his feet constantly- and more bravaddo. More ego. His skills aren't bad, but they also aren't up to the level of his confidence.

It's made my opinion of him turn sour. I want to see him eat it bad. Just to teach him the humility his sole loss seemed unable to.

Allen Green is an ESPN2 fighter. His sole apperance on HBO was when he had a poor performance against Miranda and almost got knocked out. So why, then, should he be allowed to talk smack about a fighter like Pascal? Sure, maybe you agree with him, but why belittle and offend another boxer? Unlike say, Mayweather, whose offensive attitude increases his pay-per-view buys and makes him the sport's proverbial villian- translating into money- Allen stands to gain little. Not a title shot or more purse money; by and large he's nobody talking smack.

Sure, you can say he's making people want to see if he can back up his words but he's a little fish right now acting like a shark. I don't see his actions backing up his opinion about himself.

Yeah, same hear for me. Once a pone a time I was a big DLH fan, but not anymore. Ever since he's only been interested in fighting once a year and since he stopped taking chances in the ring. I changed my mind about him after the 2nd Mosley fight...well I think it was around then.
And now as he has gotten older you can see how transparent he really is.

I think he's what this thread is all about. Like you, I came out the gate seeing this guy on ESPN2 and going, "Wow, I like his style. Exciting, gets his man out of there...nice."

But for every impressive knock-out there's another bum on his record.

Codrington was followed by Mike Jackson (10-12) and in his next televised bout that I saw after Jaidon, against McCrary, he got floored trying to knock him out. How does that give him the right to run his mouth? Sure, after that you can give him credit for wins against Bonsante and Ravelo...but then he gets smacked by Miranda- whose shown he's limited, too.

What do we get? Excuses, attitude and proclamations about how much better he is than most, how ahead of the game. How many top ten fighters has he faced? How many top fifteen? Miranda was up there and, as far as I'm concerned, slapped his punk ass back down to ESPN2 land.

So, sure, at first I was fine letting him spit a little smack talk...but not when he seemed comfortable wallowing in televised appearances against schmucks; which he has indicated he wants to do in his next fight, too.

                    Shame on Green. Tsk. Tsk.
