By Cliff Rold - Steve Molitor might not ever get a chance to cash in on the cache garnered from the feud between current World Jr. Featherweight champion Israel Vasquez (42-4, 31 KO) and former champion Rafael Marquez (37-4, 33 KO). It’s more likely that those fighters will have moved on to different divisions or the green grass of retirement before Molitor can get to them. [details]

Not sure if he can handle Ponce De Leon. He is better technically but even a guy like Escobodo who is similiar to Molitor technically couldn't figure Ponce De Leon out.
I'd like to see him in bigger fights. He's fought 3 mutts since he won that belt. Time to move on to bigger and better things. -
My sentiments exactly. I saw him in his first title defense and he looked really good. However, his next two fights were against bums. I really want him to step-up his competition. He went from fighting a guy ranked #9 by the Ring (Molitor was #8), to a guy ranked #9 by the IBF, to a guy ranked #14 by the IBF.Comment

I think if Molitor's at his best he can defeat Ponce de Leon, who showed a lot of ineffective aggression in his fight on the Hatton vs. Mayweather undercard.
De Leon has more power, but Molitor is very slick, and if he doesn't try to trade with him, he will win a decision.
Molitor would have a more difficult fight against a more complete fighter like Vasquez or R. Marquez.Comment

Again I totally agree. Before De Leon’s last fight I didn’t think Molitor could beat Marquez, Vasquez or De Leon, now I’m pretty sure he could fight Ponce to a decision win.Comment
