Forbes, Malignaggi Receive De La Hoya Nods

Sources have told BoxingScene.com that calls were made to the proper representatives of Contender star Steve Forbes and IBF junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi, inquiring whether or not the fighters were interested in facing Oscar De La Hoya on May 3. Unbeaten junior welterweight Dmitriy Salita is said to be a distant third option with the least likely chance of landing the fight (out of three) due to name value and the level of opposition on his resume. At the present, there has been no confirmation if De La Hoya's people reached out to Salita. [details]

I had a feeling he would pick Malinaggi because he uses an elusive style and would be good practice chasing him down and present very little threat.

This is ****** if he takes either of these 2 fighters, 2 JW's who aren't even the best at that weight or near the p4p rankings. I'd rather see him fight Chavez Jr.

Forget fighting a tune-up, I would rather see Oscar fight Chavez Jr. instead of facing those 2.

youre not supposed to fight a skid mark out of your underpants either.

how does fighting a complete no hope piece of crap prepare you for floyd mayweather?

Forbes is what? A former featherweight??

And Malignaggi is a small jr. welt. Me thinks he could even get down to 135.

                BS list of opponents.

I gotta say the build up to De La Hoya/Malignaggi would be entertaining.
