Boxing May Not Be “Back,” But it’s Alive, Kicking

By Kieran Mulvaney - It is just a two-or-three minute walk to my local bar. (Walking back, due to the extra distance covered on account of the less-than-straight line I follow, takes maybe a minute longer). The bar is owned by and named after Joe Theismann, the quarterback who led the Washington Redskins to victory in SuperBowl XVII. Theismann’s career, of course, ended two years later, in the second quarter of a Monday Night Football game, when New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor hit him with a tackle that shattered his tibia and fibula. It is a measure of the man’s humor that his bar’s signature homebrew is called Broken Leg Amber. [details]

i still don't understand why it's being said, boxing is dead, or making a comeback. it ain't gone anywhere and has always been there. it might have been a lil slow threw 06, but other then that, it's been great. or is it being said cause it's the end of an era for alot of fighters, and it's taking too long for the newer contenders to come up in the game. or is it cause the older fighters just don't wanna let go and staying way past their normal fight lines? whatever the reason, i've never seen boxing slip too much, and for someone to say it's not "back" but kicking, pisses me off.

Remember a year ago when EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN ARTICLE on this website was some depressing over-top nonsense about how boxing was dieing and this that and the other.

FINALLY, its the complete opposite. Thank God '07 was a great year, i cant imagine what the articles would be like if it was a bad year...

Boxings been fine. Only those ****tards Dana White and his **** puppet Joe Rogan amping up dummies thought boxing "went" anywhere.

Does boxing have some problems? Sure it does, but it is still a great sport in which I am proud to be a fan of.

the whole boxing is dying crap was just created by MMA journalists.

Its impossible for boxing to die as a sport, and thats just the way it is.

I wholeheartedly agree with the "3 steps" for boxing's health as written by the author of this article. Those 3 steps should be drilled into the head (like a Tyson uppercut) of every promoter, network, manager, etc, and maybe even the boxing fans like each of us here at Boxingscene.com

                    Very wise words, indeed.
