it certainly was the biggest name on his record at the time, and at the moment, was a career defining win because it was a big step up and was the first time fighting for an OFFICIAL heavyweight world title belt...

Before PBFM KOd Hatton who was undefeated in 43 fights he fought 3 men in a row who had all held the REAL WW title. Oscar, Judah, & Baldomir. (Baldomir was holding the REALl WW title at the time he fought Floyd) Cotto has only fought 2 Judah & Mosley. But Im not taking anything away from Cotto like it seems the author of this thread is trying to do to Floyd.

Chavez, Gatti, Hernandez, Manfredy, Baldo, Hatton... BULL**** WINS!

Cotto beat Mosley who beat Oscar TWICE in his prime
Floyd beat an over the hill De La Hoya and the fight was close ...
if Floyd is P4P the best, then Hatton must be P4P # 2 which he
isn't. So where does his claim to P4P come from ? beating
an over the hill De La Hoya ? ... Mosley beat a prime De La Hoya twice

The only two wins worth mentioning in Cotto's record are Judah and Mosley.

Judah lost 3 of his last 4 fights and was inactive for more than 1 year, minus a 1 round no contest which is the only fight he did not losse since 2005.

Mosley is 36 and did not win a lineal title fight since he controversially beat Oscar in 2003. If you want a clear cut, big victory for Mosley, you have to go back to 2000 when he beat Oscar at 147.

What is incredible is that all these idiots talking **** and sometimes straight LIES are going to put even more money in Mayweather's pocket.

I am starting to understand why he chooses to be the bad guy... rig people against you so much that they will lie to themselves and the world and pump up every opponent you face, which will lead to an eventually easy fight but everone is so hyped up by idiots like Viva Mexico that the fight makes good PPV.
