Former four-time heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield (42-9-2, 27KOs) is back in the gym. He's been training for his latest comeback at the Savannah Boxing Gym in Houston, Texas. Holyfield's current trainer, Tim Knight, has advised BoxingScene.com, of a possible bout against Friday Ahunanya (23-5-3, 13KOs) in the early part of 2008. [details]

He's trying desperately to have that final win before he leaves the sport for good. Forget about Holyfield..... We should go after those individuals that allow himto continue fighting.........he's done it all. What is there left to prove.....There are far more Die-fans urging you to retire.

There should be a mandatory retirement age

Boxers should not be able to continue beyond 40 no matter what, it is asking for a ring death and contributes heavily to the dementia and cognitive difficulties we see later.... Holyfield fighting is an embarrassment... His legacy is slowly eroding.

yeah hes kinda killing what hes done in the sport to this point... i was pretty pissed that i shelled out 40 bucks for his last fight against ibragimov... he threw 40 punches in 12 rounds... it was TERRIBLE... he SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY, threw more punches warming up then he did the whole fight... he had the entire arena waiting for him to finish warming up.. he warmed up for like 15 minutes it was ridiculous....

The promoters of that fight should lie to Holyfield. Instead of making a fight they should a retirement ceremony for him. Email all the fans who want to order tickets and tell them its not really a fight. Then when Evander comes to the ring...instead of his opponent coming out next, everyone in the boxing community comes out and says cong**** on the retirement. And then balloons start falling from the ceiling and fireworks start shooting off. Then a DJ starts playing Celebrate good times.. or christain music if Evander doesn't like that... This is best for Evander at this point...I don't want to see him get seriously hurt.

It's sad that 10 years ago the man was on top of the world, and now we all just want him to leave. It's bordering on annoying how he keeps holding on to this false hope. It's like he's in the way.

Even if Evander got knocked out again, I don't think he'd retire. Evander needs to be stopped by a close friend otherwise he will never stop it seems.
