Team Mayweather Questions Miguel Cotto's Worth

    From primerahora.com

The record of 31-0 and the impressive victories of boricua Miguel Cotto over Zab Judah and Sugar Shane Mosley do not seem to be good reasons for Floyd Mayweather, Jr, to accept a future fight against the Puerto Rican champion.

Leonard Ellerbe said yesterday to Primera Hora that once Floyd beats Ricky Hatton the 8 of December, there won't be any attractive challenges for Mayweather, Jr. "being honest, we are not thinking about Miguel Cotto nor about any other fighter. We are focused in Ricky Hatton. Floyd has obtained things in boxing that no other athlete has been able ", said Ellerbe. "From a business point of view, what Cotto brings to the table? We must ask to ourselfs if it makes sense ", added at the same time that Mayweather could retire after the duel with Hatton.

Nevertheless, it is not the first time that Mayweather announces a possible retirement. Moments after winning via decision to Oscar De La Hoya in last May, he indicated that he did not find a valid reason to continue fighting. "the problem is that Floyd does not need Miguel, but that is totally the other way around, Miguel needs Floyd. There are several young fighters that are dedicated to use the name of Floyd to elevate themselfs because they have not been able to reach his level ", maintained Ellerbe.

otto is the biggest challenge in the welter weight division and that is why he doesant bring anything. if he was a more "easy" fighter and brang money then i bet floyld would fight him. as arguably the toguhest welter in the world, then is it too risky for a ***** like floyld to fight him? i think yes.

Ellerbe is an idiot. I like Mayweather and Roger, but this guy is just a dumbass.

Floyd is insecure though, so he wont be able to shrug off the accusations of him ducking Cotto. If he doesnt "need" Cotto or Mosley or whoever then just ****ing leave. I wont miss him at all.
