WBC ORDERS MARQUEZ-PACQUIAO II
By Matt Goldstein
BREAKING NEWS: Although slated to defend his title on November 3rd against Rocky Juarez (27-3 with 19 knockouts), WBC 130lb champion Juan Manuel Marquez (47-3 with 35 knockouts) has been ordered by the WBC to defend his title against Pilipino superstar Manny Pacquiao (45-3 with 35 knockouts). If Marquez defeats Juarez, he will have 30 days to negotiate for the Pacquiao fight. This does not seem to be a problem according to Ignacio Beristain as he explained that Golden Boy Promotions have already started negotiating with HBO for an early date in 2008. In the first fight, Pacquiao knocked Marquez down three times in the first round and Marquez shockingly got up to brawl and box his way to a draw. The final decision was not without controversy however as one judge did not realize they could have actually scored the first round 10-6 in favor of Pacquiao. Had the first round been scored correctly, the result would have been a split decision win for Manny. Remember where you heard it first! 8:00am est.Comment

Pac-man is avoiding Marquez. At first I didn't think so, but its starting to seem that way. Listen just Pay JMM, and fight already. Pac-man is the bigger draw, but JMM has less to lose. Right now it is prime for Manny to fight JMM. I've said it before, Right now Manny is at his physical prime, while Juan is at his promotional prime and probably just slightly past his physical. This is the best time for Manny to fight Marquez. I still lean towards JMM though. Both can make some good money off of this fight.Comment

Do you really have to argue with Greg Leon. C'mon, you and I and almost everyone else knows he's a douche (that includes Leon). This is where people heard it first..... http://www.boxingscene.com/index.php?m=show&id=10792Comment

pacquiao-marquez II
Just hoping that Manny or Juan Manuel don't chicken out.
Manny knows that Marquez isn;t an easy opponent. If he's gonna show up as the "Manny" in "Will to Win", he's going to have a hard time against Dinamita.
Juan Manuel should never ask for the stars. He should be paid just according to his market value.
He should fight Pacquiao, regardless how much the purse would be. Take note that he fought for "peanuts" in Indonesia.
Just the thought of this fight gets me excited.Comment

In Marquez' last fight, he looked better in beating Barrera than Manny did. Manny may have had the bigger points lead, but the Marquez/Barrera was a much better fight. He also has the chance to look even better against Rocky Juarez. He's also the only guy Manny TRULY NEEDS to prove himself against. Everyone else, can't argue that they hold something over Manny, not realistically, whereas Marquez can. Furthermore, Marquez is a NEEDED peice of this puzzle, without him, there will always be doubt, or wonder. This fight (obviously.. duh) can't be made, without him. He has a lot of room to bargain. He deserves atleast close to what Pacquaio is getting.Just hoping that Manny or Juan Manuel don't chicken out.

Lotsa people had MAB beating JMM in their fight. NO ONE had Barrera beating Pac in the last fight.
I agree though that Pac should fight JMM. Just to silence all those doubters. But I honestly feel that some wiseguy would quickly say, "Sure he beat an old fighter. Can he stop fighting the same guys over and over again?"Comment

Okay, maybe I worded it wrong. Marquez was in a more exciting fight than Pacquaio was. Regardless of the reason, casual fans don't care who's fault it is. They saw a less than stellar fight with Manny, and a better fight with Juan. Happy now? By the way, it doesn't matter who had Barrera up in the Marquez fight, because the judges didn't.Marquez looked better in beating MAB than Pac? WTF are you smoking?
