Chavez Jr. The Favorite To Face Malignaggi

The young lion of Culiacan, Mexico, Julio César Chavez, Jr (33-0-1, 26KOs), is the favorite to face IBF junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (23-1, 5KOs). The Showtime Network is said to be interested in the fight for December 1. The fight would take place at the welterweight limit of 147-pounds, Malignaggi moves up by seven pounds and Chavez would move down from junior middleweight. [details]

You have to favor Chavez in this fight. There is no way that Paulie can keep Junior honest in this fight. It will be like he's being stug by a few mosquitos, not like he's being hit by another fighter. Paulie has no power at 140, what makes him think he'll have power at 147? Chavez wins by KO8 after an entertaining and brutal fight (with Chavez killing Malignaggi to his body)

im not saying paulie will win but paulie is pretty damn tough...he hung around for 12 rounds against cotto (while he was taking a hard beating) so paulie has some heart.

i dont know if he'd win but he wont go down without a fight...

damnit. now im going to have to get shotime...

or watch it on the net

How do you defend a 140-pound belt at 147?

Chavez Jnr Should pick on someone his own size. He's a sad case. Props to Paulie for willing to take his fight. He'll have to be very slick that night. I hope he wins and puts an end to the Chavez Jnr bum beating circus.

He would NOT be defending the belt at 147! This is a money fight for both. Paulie is not going to make money fighting Ndou or Ndojou...come on! That's why he's fighting JCC Jr. It makes sense. My pick is Chavez based on size alone. I love Paulie but he's too small and has no power to beat him.

We all know Malignaggi has no power at all but he is a master boxer.

He'll make little Chavez look ****** in there. And Malignaggi took everything Cotto had I'm sure he could handle little Chavez.

                  very true.

paulie is a boxing technician not some pushover who just turned pro yesterday. paulie may not have KO power and it wouldnt hurt to get some but he's a good boxing technician and has a tough chin (watch the cotto/malignaggi fight to see what i mean...he took a pretty bad beating but went all 12 rounds...and he didnt last them by running either...he definately traded...he lost with style).

this looks like it may be a big test to chavez jr and see if he is indeed the real deal (by being able to be a true "boxer" vs. a bum).

i like both fighters so its hard for me to pick...the heart goes with paulie (my fellow italian). but whoever wins it will still be pretty good.

What do you mean "gay"? The fight is at 147 lbs not 140. Chavez can't make 140 so they'll fight at 147. Every division has it's own belt.
